Dr. Christine Chiu is a board-certified adult psychiatrist offering medication management and psychotherapy. She has special interests in cross-cultural and cross-generational issues, transitional age youths, women's mental health and community psychiatry. Dr. Chiu is trained in psychodynamic, acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), interpersonal, and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) therapeutic modalities. She also has experience in Ericksonian psychotherapy.
Dr. Chiu completed her residency training in adult psychiatry at University of California San Francisco where she founded a music-based therapeutic group in a community mental health clinic and conducted studies on how community choir affects the emotional well-being of older adults. She holds a bachelors degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Chiu also practices at a community mental health clinic and hospital in Santa Clara County and facilitates music-based therapeutic groups for people with severe mental illness.
